Senator Dan Sullivan and Representative Mary Peltola Join Forces with Senator Lisa Murkowski to Champion Dementia Legislation

Senator Dan Sullivan and Representative Mary Peltola have stepped up to co-sponsor two pivotal dementia-related bills spearheaded by Prime Sponsor Senator Lisa Murkowski: The National Alzheimer’s Project Act Reauthorization and the Alzheimer’s Accountability Act. Senator Sullivan and Rep Peltola’s co-sponsorship of these bills is a milestone in the ongoing battle against this debilitating condition.

The National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) Reauthorization ensures continued support for the National Alzheimer’s Project, a comprehensive initiative aimed at accelerating research efforts, addressing health disparities in underrepresented populations, and promoting public education of risk factors and symptoms of dementia. With Senator Sullivan and Rep Peltola’s co-sponsorship, the bill gained more traction.

The Alzheimer’s Accountability Act is another critical piece of legislation that Senator Murkowski has championed, and Alaska’s dementia advocates are grateful to see Senator Sullivan and Rep Peltola step forward to join the cause. By co-sponsoring this bill, they help ensure sufficient resources are provided to the National Institutes of Health for dementia research.

Over 200 Alaskan volunteer advocates with the Alzheimer’s Association encouraged Senator Sullivan and Rep Peltola to co-sponsor these bills by sending emails, making calls, and meeting with staff to share the impact of dementia on Alaskans. 80 of those advocates have already sent an email thanking Alaska’s Congressional Delegation for their support of dementia issues. You can join the fight today by sending a message of appreciation for their dedication to helping Americans impacted by dementia.
