If you’ve ever attended the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, you know there’s a moment when the air fills with color. Thousands of flowers, orange, yellow, blue, and purple, are held high in the Promise Garden, representing the personal reasons each participant is walking.
These flowers are more than symbols, they’re stories, memories, and commitments to a future without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Here’s what each color means:
🧡Orange — Support for the Cause

Orange flowers are carried by those who share the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. You may not have a direct connection to the disease, but you’re walking to raise awareness, support research, and help change the future for millions of families. Your flower says: I’m here to make a difference.
💛Yellow — Supporting or Caring for Someone Living with Alzheimer’s

A yellow flower means you personally know someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Whether you’re a caregiver, a family member, or a friend, your presence in the Promise Garden shows love, dedication, and the belief that no one should face this disease alone.
💙Blue — Living with Alzheimer’s or Another Dementia

Blue flowers are carried by those living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. These walkers inspire hope and courage, showing that while the journey is challenging, their voice, presence, and story matter deeply in this fight.
💜Purple — Honoring Those We’ve Lost

Purple flowers represent the memories of loved ones lost to Alzheimer’s or another dementia. This color carries both grief and determination — grief for the moments stolen and determination to help create a future where no one loses a loved one to this disease.
🤍White — The First Survivor
The white flower is special — and rare. It represents the first survivor of Alzheimer’s. During the Promise Garden ceremony, one white flower is lifted high, a symbol of the day we all strive for: when Alzheimer’s is no longer a terminal disease, and future generations can live without its devastating impact. Every step taken at the Walk brings us closer to the moment when the white flowers are no longer rare, but abundant.
A Promise in Every Flower
When the Promise Garden fills with flowers, it’s a moving reminder that every person has a reason to walk — and that we’re stronger together. Whether your flower is orange, yellow, blue, or purple, you are part of a powerful movement bringing us closer to a cure.
Join us at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and add your flower to the Promise Garden. Together, we can make a world without Alzheimer’s a reality.
